A Rugged, Virile Festival (they still had Sanrio crap though).

This kept me good and occupied at school today. A short video entry (huzzah!) for those of you who can’t be arsed to actually read anything and have the attention span of a fish.

Niihama has one big festival every year: The MAN festival essentially. Large groups of men get together in their various neighborhoods and celebrate their strength, vivacity, plucked eyebrows and virile power by pounding on drums, blowing whistles and balancing impressive looking floats that weigh at least a ton or so on their shoulders. Don’t be too impressed though, ladies - there’s usually a wheel under there too.

Apologies about the quality — it looks better when it’s not shrunk down.
