Some Snippets & Japanese Jots
- Small fishing village of Obama supports Obama. Poor Hillary. There goes the election.
- Insecticide dumplings Now my question is, were they BETTER or WORSE than the cardboard/rabies vaccine dumplings? Oh China, how did I escape thee scot free?
- Why Japan sometimes makes me cringe.
- Foreigners in Shizuoka Get Trash Tutorial 101 (and a lesson in manners). They’re kidding themselves if they think it’s only going to take 30 minutes to figure out the garbage system in Japan, which is essentially “You separate your trash into fifteen different piles, put each one out on a different day and THEN we’ll all just burn it all together anyway despite your diligent efforts!” I’m still confused as to when I put out Styrofoam and when I put out batteries. So instead I keep them all and build a fort, that incidentally, is more well insulated than my apartment.
- New iPod Remote That Works In The Blink Of An Eye. Literally. Number of people ostensibly effected by visible twitches on Tokyo subways drastically increases. And really. How lazy can we get?
- Japanese Companies Front The Booze Tab In The Hopes That’ll It Increase Communication Among Its Employees. My favorite part:
Japan General Estate said the drinking benefits could alternatively be used for wedding or funeral expenses. Weddings and funerals. More or less one and the same…
- I had been wondering about this little, very happy, green guy when I was up in Hokkaido. His name is marimokkori. Marimo means a great wad of algae found in Hokkaido’s Lake Akan (which I just visited), whilst mokkori means erection. Lovely. The girls at school sport these on their bags.
- Chewy Turtles Responsible for Japan’s ‘Porcelain Beautiful Women?’ If slitting turtles throats, snacking on their vittles and sipping their blood is what it takes, well, I’d rather be a haggish thirty year old wedding cake.
