Living In The Past When I Was Half Way To 38

A thousand and eight heartfelt apologies for the lack of updates. School has come to a resounding halt with the third years graduating and the little runty first years moving up in society. Kids are on holiday now for the next week or so, so finally, finally, the school is exactly as it should be: with no meddlesome children. With all this free time it occurred to me that I could actually go back and fiddle with some of the 4 billion photos I took ages ago in Italy. So, not so many words this entry - I just want to share a few of my favorites.

I feel so old. These are from a good four years ago.

A market full of curios in Naples.

Alba Fucens (an old Roman settlement, for those of you who care) Ruins which looks almost lego-esque from all the way up here.

Christmas at the Vatican - I resisted the urge to nick the life-sized baby Jesus.

The beautiful Piazza Navona - Full of artists offering to paint your portrait, gelato parlors galore, and you can’t walk two steps without tripping over something by Bernini or Borromini.

Remarkable Pantheon — from around the 120s AD. That’s OLD. And amazing. There’s an oculus in the ceiling and it’s supposed to be fantastically beautiful when it snows. Sadly, I never ran over there in time.

Gladiator In Training with Il Vittoriano Monument on the horizon. I wanted one of those hats as well. No, they’re not tacky.

Hadrian’s Canopus. What lovely, firm scenery.

My Own Personal Favorite. I’m a sucker for reflections.

Who wants gelato? Maybe a suppli or twelve? Gah. Back to the land of fish and mayo I go.
