Peaceout, First Year Homeslices
Said a rather sad (but no crying, mind you) goodbye to one of my first year classes today.
This photo pretty much sums up the personality of the class. Half of the boys were missing today, today on Friday, as they had to go to an opening ceremony for a baseball game on Sunday (hm… there’s something weird about that, but I can’t quite put my thumb on it.) so they were slightly calmer.
Slightly.

But far away is no good, right? Let’s zoom in a bit, shall we?
The boys being charming as always. And yes, these are the same boys who were involved in the Locker Incident.

To their credit, most of them somehow managed to worm their way into my affections by sending me off with poignant notes like this, including sentiments that some people wait their entire lives to hear:

Apparently I wrote this one to myself [From: Nikki].

I largely suspect the notes honestly should have written: “I LOVE CANDY! GIMME GIMME!” But I’ll take what I can get.
And the more rational girls who can always be resorted to to NOT f-up a photo-op.

Their letters tended to be less effusive, but much prettier:
(Let us hope that’s not supposed to be me on the right.)

And the one student who never, ever talks in class was one of the few who takes the time to actually write me a real message. She was one of those students who always looked miserable and completely uncomfortable during class, but when I engaged her one on one she listened whilst staring blankly ahead but attentively would make the changes so I knew she was really listening. It was quite sweet, especially considering that she writes, “I DON’T like English… buuuuut… you made it suck a bit less. Cheers for that.”

Sniffle.
